1. In my work I used mainly dark colours and dark reds to represent danger. I also used a lot of yellow text on my magazine cover and film poster to represent energy.
2. In both my magazine cover and film poster I used a picture of one of our main actors, the journalist. He is shown wearing a shirt and blazer which makes him appear intelligent and important. In my film poster he is shown holding a camera to his face suggesting he is capturing important evidence linked to the murders. In my magazine cover I used a picture of the journalist faced to the side holding the camera at his chest, this suggests he has seen something that's shocked him and has had to take the camera away from his face to make sure what he is seeing is real.
3. There's a relationship shown between the detective and the journalist. Despite working together to try and solve the case there's conflict between them as they fight to be better than one another. This shows binary opposites as its Female vs. Male.
4. In my film poster I have a picture of the journalist holding a camera to his face and my tag line is "Can the truth be captured?". This suggests to the audience that there is an on going case which is difficult to solve. The background on my film poster is a crime board which I had made black and white to represent the past. The yellow text suggests energy on both my magazine cover and film poster suggesting to the audience that the case requires a lot of time and effort.
5. Our film trailer shows both female and male main characters (binary opposites) who are of different ages which may attract our audience as both genders and different age ranges are shown.
6. In our print texts I lowered the brightness of the images which shows the conventions of the thriller genre as thriller films stereotypically use low key lighting as this creates suspense.
7. In our texts we used reds to represent danger. As a group we have all used the word "truth", this shows the audience the truth is still unknown and makes the audience wonder if the truth will ever be found out, it makes the audience want to know the truth. The text shown in our trailer is the same text used on my magazine cover which makes it recognisable.
8. In our trailer we used jump cuts and a lot of fades to black and white and cross dissolves. The fades to white were effective because a camera was shown a lot throughout our trailer to show the journalist capturing important information. By using fades fade to white on the scenes where the dead bodies are found in the house it creates the effect that pictures are being taken of them by the forensics. We also used a lot of sound effects such as sirens, gun shots, the sound of a clock ticking and voiceovers. One of the voiceovers we used was of the survivor saying "I don't think I can live without my family any longer". These are all used overlapping our trailer music which makes it sound like a lot of things are going on all at once creating a dramatic effect. The fades to black represent darkness, danger and suspense. When using Photoshop we had to be creative in the way our picture and whole image matched the conversions of our thriller genre. To do this we adjusted the saturation and contrast. We also did this in our trailer where we thought particular scenes could be darker to set the mood.
9. In our production logo we used a picture of a husky, with our production title "Siberian studios". We used the picture of the husky because they are intelligent and intimidating dogs, this fit well with our trailer and thriller genre as our trailer involves strong character personalities, who come across intimidating and intelligent.
10. Overall, our campaign was a success as it gained a lot of publicity over social media. To advertise our trailer we put our trailer on facebook where we got feedback on what we did well and what could make it even better, this helped us to improve our skills. In one of our scenes for our trailer we used a prison cell to show the prisoner pacing up and down his cell, as it wasn't possible for us to use a real prison cell we had to find an alternative, therefore we looked around in the St.Neots museum to see if we could find anything appropriate. Luckily, the museum let us use their old prison cell and even posted our trailer on their facebook page to advertise both their museum and our film trailer.
