This image shows an extreme close up of the survivors eyes. We can tell from this image she is female as she is wearing make-up. Her eyes show innocence but also emotion. She is staring blankly and looking frightened. This shows a stereotypical female often shown in thriller films.
This shows the stereotypical opinion that women are weak and emotional.
This image also shows conventions from real life media products. The first element shown is the use of dark/dimmed lighting. This is used in order to create a mysterious, unknown, and frightening effect. This is because the dark is a fear of many people's as people become scared when they can't see as much. Therefore, this makes the audience feel on edge. Another convention used is an aspect of mise-en-scene, this is shown by the baseball bat in the image. This shows violence and also fear by another which is stereotypically used in thriller films. Thriller films also involve a lot of weapons and fighting. Another convention used is the fact the victim is a girl, this also shows women to be weak and vulnerable.
This image shows conventions from real life media products. Our film title appears at the end of our trailer sequence to make it more memorable for audiences. It is also the only text on the screen which makes the title stand out. The fact the text is in red shows danger, evil, and perhaps murder and blood. The text font itself is very simple so that audiences can read the title clearly and the capital letters make the title stand out.
This image also shows conventions. This image shows a man behind bars in
This image shows conventions from real life media product in several ways. Firstly, the use of dark/dimmed lighting creates mystery and intensity to the scene. When we shot this we wanted to make sure that the lighting wasn't too dark so that you couldn't see the journalists surroundings, but not too light as we wanted to create a frightening suspense. This image shows the journalist running away from, or running to something. This suggests that he is either running at a fast pace away from danger, or running toward something important. The journalist is dressed in a smart shirt and blazer which shows his importance and professional position.
This image shows conventions from real life media products in several ways. Firstly the use of dimmed/dark lighting is often used in thriller films to create a mysterious atmosphere. This frame also shows a stereotypical male in a thriller film as males are usually portrayed to be aggressive and frustrated. Here the journalist is aggressively shaking a mirror on the wall in frustration as he looks at himself screaming.
This image also shows the conventions of dimmed/dark lighting in thriller films to create a mysterious atmosphere. Another element used in this shot that is effective is the fact the person is completely unknown to the audience. This is because he is facing sideways to the camera and has his hood up so that his identity is not shown. Over this clip of the person holding up a phone to their ear, we hear their voice and assume the unknown person is a man. This is effective because the audience know minimal information about the person apart from what he sounds like which makes the audience want to keep watching to find out his identity. His clothing is also black which suggests he wants to camouflage himself with the black, dark background. This makes the audience even more suspicious and nervous of him.
This image shows the journalist peeing into a room opening a door cautiously. This clip is shown towards the end of the sequence and the journalist is shown only showing half his face although the audience recognise and know its him from seeing him earlier on in the trailer. The fact this clip is shown at the end creates suspense as the audience are left wondering if this is a clue. Is the journalist not letting on as much as he knows? Why is he being cautious like he doesn't want anyone to see him? This makes the audience question his presence. He is shown looking at the camera with a daunting suspicious look which then makes the audience question him. The darkness of the room helps to light up his face so he appears the main object of the frame.
This shot tells the audience what other films the creator has produced. The audience may, or may not have watched the creators other work but if they have this may draw audiences in to wanting to watch the film shown in the trailer because they enjoy the creators thinking and plots. If the audience haven't already watched the creators other pieces of work this may still then make them want to watch the film in the trailer because they may have heard good thing about the creators previous work. This is typically used in thriller film trailers to draw an audience in. The white text on the black background makes the text stand out and therefore memorable to audiences.
